On Wednesday, May 31, 2018, AGH with Plan International held a successful start-up event for our project A Working Future. The event was held at the Furahisha Field in Kirumba, Mwanza. Around 150 attended this all-day event. There were presentations from AGH, Plan International, local government representatives, and representatives from AGH’s Community Resource People and the youths themselves from Working Future groups. We also saw the Kisesa Theater Group perform dances to drumming.
Our guest of honor was Mrs. Mary Tesha, representing the Regional Commissioner of Mwanza. Also, Mrs. Shifti from Norway was there for Plan International, as well as Dr. Tilman, Baraka Mwanigoha, and Adolf Jeremiah, who is heading up this project.
A Working Future helps teenagers to be able to start businesses and work to fulfilling their dreams. A Working Future has now been launched in 5 wards in Ilemela and 5 wards in Nyamagana, with a total of 57 groups and 1,047 participants! The Community Resource People are local volunteers who work with these groups to instruct and lead them.
